Leave the tattoo in the wrapping provided by the tattoo artist for 1-2 days.

  • If you have any allergies to adhesive, please inform your tattoo artist not to use the second skin bandaid.

  • Remove the bandaid in the shower under running warm water. Pull the bandaid from the bottom up. Clean the tattoo with warm water and mild soap.

  • Do not use bar soap.

  • Pat dry using a clean, single use paper towel. Apply a thin layer of ointment like Mad Rabbit healing balm or soothing gel, Cetaphil or mild lotion morning and night for 7 days.

  • Be sure not to oversaturate it. Just a rice grain size amount is enough.

  • Wash tattoo daily in the shower/sink just like any other part of your body. Repeat with thin layer of ointment or lotion. You don't need a lot of lotion/ ointment, you want the tattoo to be able to "breathe".

  • After the first 7 days, continue with aftercare ointment or switch to a lighter lotion for an additional 7 days.

  • Permanent tattoos typically take 2-3 weeks to fully heal.

  • The tattoo may start to dry up and scab. DO NOT pick or scratch at the tattoo.

  • No swimming or submerging the tattoo in water until fully healed (about 2-3 weeks). No baths, no pools, no swimming in the ocean.

  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as it may cause irritation or fading. After the tattoo has healed, its recommended to use a high SPF when in the sun.

  • If you experience any signs of an infection or allergic reaction such as but not limited to redness and swelling, fever, pus drainage, pain, shaking/chills or firm bumps, please contact your physician immediately.
